The world’s number one direct seller of Galapagos tours, Galapagos Travel Center, has launched a unique, sustainable holiday to the astounding Galapagos Islands, from the 5th to the 12th of August 2024. This one-of-a-kind sustainability-centered trip is aimed at supporting vital marine conservation work in the Galapagos while protecting biodiversity, endangered species, and ecosystems. It is in collaboration with the World Sustainability Foundation (WSF) and will be supporting the work of Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT).
Discover the Enchanted Galapagos
Located 1000km off Ecuador’s coast in the Pacific Ocean, the Galapagos archipelago is famous for its large number of endemic species, presenting breathtaking wonders for adventurous travellers. The captivating destination is also known as the Enchanted Islands and named Galapagos after the Spanish word for the giant tortoises found there.
The eight-day trip organized by the Galapagos Travel Center will allow participants to explore and enjoy the sights and sounds of the magnificent Islands while helping protect its flora and fauna through conservation initiatives.
The tour will commence in Las Grietas or Tortuga Bay. The line-up of activities includes scuba diving, snorkeling, a full day in the highlands, and a visit to one of the islands. Travellers will be taken on a speed boat to San Cristobal – Junco, Puerto Chino, and Galapaguera. The day tours may be available for 16 people, and 1 guide.
The trip will also include a visit to El Garrapatero, a remote and sandy beach in Santa Cruz, as well as a tour of the Tortoise Ranch. The Galapagos offers an incredible variety of animal species; during this holiday, there will be the possibility of observing these intriguing animals at close quarters.
Visitors may spot marine and land iguanas, albatrosses, giant tortoises, mockingbirds, and many more. Participants can also view tropicbirds, pelicans, and bull sea lions, often situated at the eastern end of the island. There will be a delightful walk to a freshwater lake behind the beach, which is home to flamingos, stilts, and other shorebirds.
Immerse Yourself in the Galapagos
The price of this holiday to the alluring Galapagos Islands is inclusive of accommodation at the plush Plaza Luna Hotel in Santa Cruz or Casa Opuntia in San Cristóbal, it also includes breakfast and lunch, detailed excursions, a trip guide, entrance fees for selected sites, three snorkeling tours, biology insights, transportation, and a donation of €500 to both WSF and GCT for each person booked. The price is not inclusive of flights, snorkeling equipment, Isabela local tax, or a migratory control card.
The tour will be led by highly experienced Conservationist, Mario Passoni. Currently serving as Conservation and Awareness Project Manager of the World Sustainability Foundation (WSF), Mario has an impressive profile in the field; over the years he has worked as a nature guide in the Maldives, Kenya, Mozambique, Seychelles, and Nosy Be, Madagascar.
Throughout his career, he has conducted coral restoration projects and photo identification of manta rays, whale sharks, and sea turtles. Mario’s deep knowledge of the island’s biodiversity is set to make travellers enjoy the wonders of the Galapagos even more. During the trip, he will highlight the biodiversity, and curiosities of the animal world, and share how to protect the ecosystems by supporting the WSF’s conservation projects.
The World Sustainability Foundation (WSF) is the non-profit arm of the globally leading sustainability organization, the World Sustainability Organisation (WSO). It seeks to protect and enhance biodiversity through the preservation of marine resources, terrestrial resources, and habitats.
Since its inception, the Foundation has been involved in dozens of conservation projects around the world, such as in Italy, Madagascar, Peru, Mongolia, and Vietnam. The WSF not only develops its conservation projects, but also supports and collaborates with NGOs and local communities in the protection of endangered marine species, terrestrial species, and landscapes.
Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT) is the only UK-registered charity to focus exclusively on the conservation and sustainable development of the Galapagos Archipelago and its unique biodiversity. The charity works towards ensuring that the nature and beauty of the islands are conserved in perpetuity, with island restoration and ocean protection at the core of its approach.

Using donations obtained through participation in the trip, the World Sustainability Foundation, Galapagos Conservation Trust, and other project partners will be supported in their work to help protect baby hammerhead sharks, black tip sharks, and several ray species in the mangroves of the Islands.
