Carbon Offset
Help us to Support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Problem
Since the Industrial Revolution, an ever-increasing amount of greenhouse gases has been released into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases trap excess heat, leading to global warming., causing global warming. The evidence that humans have caused climate change through pollution. is abundant: “Human activities, principally through emissions of greenhouse gases, have unequivocally caused global warming, with the global surface temperature reaching 1.1 °C above 1850-1900 in 2011-2020” (IPCC, 2023).
Climate change represents one of the biggest challenges our society has ever faced. As time passes, the repercussions on the environment and society will be more frequent and severe, becoming more difficult to handle day after day. Therefore, immediate action is needed.
Negative consequences of climate change include:
- More frequent and severe weather events
- Rising sea levels
- Melting glaciers
- Loss of habitat
WSO’s Initiative
Awareness about how much greenhouse gas emissions a company is emitting and understanding where the emissions come from is fundamental to reducing a company’s environmental footprint. Through a collaboration with First, your company can now have an assessment of its carbon footprint. Once your carbon footprint is known, your company can, on one side, work on trying to reduce emissions as much as possible and, on the other side, we can select together carbon offset programs, such as reforestation projects, to compensate the CO2 that your company is not able to reduce and thus make you carbon neutral.
Although carbon offsetting might not be the solution to climate change., it could be the first step towards a reduced environmental footprint while trying to reduce CO2 emissions where possible.
Benefits
By adhering to the initiative, you will receive:
- Carbon Footprint Assessment
- WSO’s Carbon Neutral Logo
- Creation of your own forest
- Impact report
Additionally, your company will:
- Take concrete action for the environment.
- Be aligned with UN SDGs
- Improve its reputation
Furthermore, the World Sustainability Organization can support you in enhancing and promoting your commitment to environmental sustainability.
