Certified Friend of the Earth Collections – The Future of Sustainable Fashion

World Sustainability Organization is pleased to celebrate the commitment of four international brands that have achieved the Friend of the Earth certification. This recognition attests to their dedication to sustainable and responsible practices in the fashion world. These brands represent a concrete example of how fashion can combine creativity, quality, and respect for the environment and the communities involved in the production chain.

Natural Cotton Color – Brazil: Natural Cotton Color uses naturally coloured organic cotton, grown in Brazil with guaranteed purchase contracts that ensure farmers the highest price on the local market. This innovative choice saves up to 87% of water compared to conventional cotton, contributing to more sustainable water resource management. Local women artisans, organised in associations, benefit from higher incomes thanks to the added value of sustainable fashion products. The supply chain is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, promoting gender equality, inclusive economic growth, and food security.

Zoe Klose Fashion – Switzerland: Zoe Klose Fashion transforms marine waste, such as abandoned fishing nets and recycled nylon, into high-quality sportswear, entirely produced in Switzerland. Each garment helps reduce ocean pollution and safeguard marine life, with a climate impact reduced by up to 90% compared to traditional nylon. The collaboration with Friend of the Earth, Healthy Seas, and Ghost Diving testifies to the brand’s commitment to a cleaner and more responsible future. The OEKO-Tex certification also guarantees the safety and sustainability of the materials used.

Katharine Story – USA: Californian designer Katharine Story creates gender-neutral collections with recycled vintage fabrics such as lace, silk chiffon, velvet, and brocades. Each piece is the result of careful craftsmanship and a philosophy that reduces fashion’s environmental footprint through the creative reuse of pre-existing materials. Her bohemian and elegant aesthetic, combined with a strong commitment to sustainability, makes each piece unique and meaningful, celebrating timeless beauty and environmental responsibility.

Camila Machado – Brazil: Camila Machado Ateliê stands out for its commitment to eco-conscious fashion, combining over 15 years of experience with a deep knowledge of art, culture, and sustainability. The brand is known for its artisanal haute couture made with natural materials and its focus on reuse: it promotes the rental of garments and uses scraps for natural dyes. The ALMAzônia project, promoted by the Ateliê, fosters environmental awareness and a deeper connection with nature, embodying a fashion model that respects and celebrates the territory.

The Value of the Friend of the Earth Certification

The designers of these brands passionately share the value of the Friend of the Earth certification, which represents a concrete commitment to ethical, transparent, and sustainable practices. “The certification pushes us to continually innovate, respecting people and the planet,” says the founder of Natural Cotton Color. Zoe Klose adds, “Every garment we produce is a message of hope for our oceans.” Katharine Story concludes, “Sustainability is at the heart of my creativity because I believe fashion can be a powerful tool for transformation.” Camila Machado emphasises, “Fashion must be a bridge between art, culture, and nature, and our commitment is to create beauty that respects the planet.

A Positive Impact on the Supply Chain and Community

These collections not only reduce environmental impact but also generate tangible social benefits: from the empowerment of women artisans in Brazil, to the enhancement of local economies, to the promotion of responsible and high-quality production in Switzerland and the United States. WSO is proud to support these projects that embody the values of transparency, innovation, and sustainability, contributing to building a better future for fashion and our planet.
