ApexBrasil receives Friend of the Earth 2023 Sustainability Award

Milan, 19 of April 2023. The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) has received the “Friend of the Earth 2023 Sustainability Award” in recognition of its outstanding efforts to promote sustainable practices with exporting Brazilian companies.

 

The award ceremony took place at “Sustainable Friends”, the Friend of the Earth showroom and flagship store in Milan (Galleria Passarella 1). The store showcases several sustainable Brazilian brands: Natural Cotton Color, Trópicca, Celeste, Demodê Ateliê and Crina. 

 

The event was attended by Jorge Viana (President of ApexBrasil),  Ambassador Hadil da Rocha Viana (Consul General of Brazil) and Paolo Bray (Founder and Director of Friend of the Earth and the World Sustainability Organization) as well as other representatives of the Brazilian Consulate and Brazilian companies’ associations.

 

Paolo Bray also interviewed the president of ApexBrasil and the Consul General of Brasil, in the “Sustainable Friends” store. The honorable guests explained ApexBrasil’s activities, its support for Brazilian brands and the initiatives of the Consulate to promote sustainable practices.

WSO delivers the certifications based on 30 years experience in the field, in full independence and by mean of audits of accredited certification bodies.

WSO’s activity is international in scope and multiproduct.

 

Friend of the Sea has become the leading certification standard for products and services which respect and protect the marine environment. Products from companies in more than 80 countries have been certified, including Brazil.

 

Friend of the Earth — a project of the World Sustainability Organization — was launched in 2018 to promote sustainable farming practices and to certify products from environmentally and biodiversity-friendly agriculture. Over the years, Friend of the Earth has become the leading international certification logo for agro-food and has also developed certification standards for non-food products and services, such as textiles, fashion, cosmetics and tourism.

 

WSO has started its collaboration with Brazil with the Sustainable Fashion Project.The first brands that obtained the Certification were Natural Cotton Color and Crina, other brands started the process of Certification (TrópiccaCeleste, and Demodê Ateliê). Others brands (Carolina Bortolini and Ricco Bracco) started a collaboration.
