The World Sustainability Organization (WSO) will be a key player at the upcoming edition of Milano Fashion & Jewels, which will be held at the Fiera di Rho Milano from 22 to 25 February 2025.
The event celebrates style, design, and innovation, and on this occasion, WSO will present the Friend of the Earth certification, an international recognition that promotes environmental responsibility in the fashion and agri-food sectors.
Within the WSO stand, located in HALL 10, BOOTH C53, certified brands from around the world will be showcased, including 99 Brown, Ateliê Camila Machado, Ciriana Haute Couture, Dyvo Lab, Perer, Bukura Handmade, Katharine Story, Las Gringas, Luxalpaca, Rêves de Rive Swimwear, and Zoe Klose, all united by their commitment to sustainable fashion and ethical innovation.
Founded in 2014 by Paolo Bray, WSO manages the Friend of the Sea and Friend of the Earth certifications, ensuring sustainable practices through independent audits.
The Friend of the Earth certification allows brands to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability, ensuring traceability, social responsibility, and environmental compliance throughout the supply chain5.
Friend of the Earth is designed for products distributed globally, including a wide range of merchandise categories such as clothing, accessories, footwear, home textiles, and more.
It is accessible to small, medium, and large enterprises, providing flexibility both financially and operationally. Brands have the option to certify the entire collection or specific product lines that meet the requirements set by the standard.
The verification is divided into two levels, Silver and Gold, to recognize existing standards and provide distinct advantages. The rigorous criteria cover key areas such as the origin of raw materials, the use of harmful chemicals, waste management, and social responsibility, ensuring that verified brands meet high standards of sustainability and social responsibility.
Additionally, the Friend of the Earth certification aligns with the 2030 Agenda, contributing to various sustainable development goals (SDGs), including the promotion of responsible production practices, energy efficiency, and biodiversity conservation.
With initiatives such as sustainable fashion shows and dedicated events, Friend of the Earth promotes a cultural shift in the sector, actively supporting certified brands in their journey towards a more ethical and sustainable future.
