On the same days as Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025, a special, independent, and exclusive event, at its third edition, will spotlight international sustainable fashion brands: the Beyond the Claim Sustainable Fashion Show.
On September 20th at 5 PM at the Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, this inspiring show will feature several Friend of the Earth certified brands, all committed to redefining sustainability in fashion.
As the event approaches, let’s introduce the 13 brands joining the fashion show worldwide, each showcasing their unique approach to sustainability through their collections.
Two of the brands featured in the Fashion Show are from Switzerland. Reve de Rive Couture Swimwear specializes in creating durable and timeless swimwear. Each piece is hand-sewn using Italian recycled materials and has a matching scrunchie made from production off-cuts.
The second Swiss brand, Zoe Klose, stands out for its commitment to addressing the environmental crisis of ghost fishing nets, which endanger marine life. The brand tackles this issue by transforming ghost nets into regenerated yarn and using it to create beautiful and comfortable sports pieces.
The blend of elegance and comfort is at the core of another standout of the upcoming fashion show: the Italian brand Perer. Its distinctive use of Modal fabric, a semi-synthetic material derived from beech tree pulp, brings a unique softness and breathability to its clothing, making Perer’s pieces ideal for yoga practice and daily wear.
Ciriana Haute Coat, also created in Italy, is an ecological brand renowned for using organic textiles and biodegradable accessories in its coat designs. Its collections are designed in Italy and manufactured entirely in Europe with full traceability, embodying a blend of tradition and modernity inspired by Rome.
From the US, meet Katharine Story, a project incorporating the innovative upcycling technique to create bold pieces. Its collections are inspired by the fusion of vintage textiles with modern design, and each piece tells a story of creative expression and sustainability.
At Beyond the Claim, you’ll also discover the innovative Swedish brand Transforming Textile. It is known for using a new material called Sense Tex, formulated as a 5-fiber yarn-thread mixture that enhances hygiene and durability while reducing the need for frequent washing, making it a practical and eco-friendly choice.
Four sustainable fashion brands will showcase their collections at the fashion show, representing Brazil with the support of Brasil Eco Fashion, Apex Brasil, and the Brazilian Consulate.
The first is Natural Cotton Color, a brand committed to using exclusively naturally coloured and organic cotton in its collections, significantly reducing water consumption. The brand also prioritizes social responsibility, supporting fair wages for artisans in Northeast Brazil. The collection “Calunga” is based on Maracatu – a cultural manifestation of African origin present in the carnival of the Brazilian Northeast, home of the brand.
Val Valadares Ateliê highlights artisanal craftsmanship and eco-conscious practices. It is featured in the “Marajoara capsule”, based on the ancient graphics of Marajo Island, in the Amazon region. Producing these pieces also provides employment opportunities for women entrepreneurs, supporting the local economy and sustainable fashion practices.
Camila Machado Ateliê creates wedding and party dresses inspired by nature. Each piece is handmade using moulage techniques, botanical printing, and natural dyeing. It also incorporates unique natural raw materials, such as onion skins and fish scales.
Las Gringas is dedicated to producing clothing from natural and biodegradable raw materials. By utilising certified sustainable fabrics, repurposing high-quality fabric leftovers and prioritising fibres from renewable sources, the brand emphasises environmental responsibility.
Albanian brand 99 Brown brings innovative sustainability to the forefront. IT pioneers using recycled, eco-friendly and biodegradable materials. It is committed to blending innovation with sustainability, offering eco-friendly and high-performance products.
Handmade Bukura, from Kosovo, specialises in handcrafted products such as bags and bikinis that blend style with practicality. Known for its trendy designs and functional appeal, Handmade Bukura offers unique, eco-friendly and versatile products.
DYVÓ stands out as Kosovo’s first sustainable design studio. Employing eco-friendly materials and minimising waste ensures that each product, whether fashion accessories like the Urban Factor belt or unique jewellery pieces, reflects its commitment to environmental preservation.
