Traceability

What is food traceability?

Traceability is the capability to trace something. In the case of sustainable food production, food traceability ensures that foods are traced and tracked throughout the supply chain. In other words how any food product, at any specified stage of the food chain – from production to distribution – came from and where it went.

What are food traceability systems?

Food traceability systems or solutions are seen as an essential part of maintaining food safety. These systems are introduced and enforced in order to trace the history of a product throughout its history and certification is recognised as an effective measure to identify potential problems concerning issues such as quality and source and increases the transparency of the product.
